❤️WHY WE LOVE THIS RECIPE
We love the combination of sausage and artichoke, but then you throw in the green chili and it takes that dip to the next level. Everyone who has tried this dip loves it, they are always surprised but what are the ingredients. We use a blend of cheeses, plus cream cheese and sour cream and it’s so creamy.
- Cream cheese
- Whipping cream
- Breakfast pork sausage
- Mild or hot green chilies
- Blend of Romano, Asiago and Parmesan cheese (see tips section)
If you like hot and spicy, you’ll want to use “hot” pork sausage and “hot” green chilies. We personally don’t like this level of heat, but if you want it, remove those two ingredients!
🍽️HOW TO MAKE
The great thing about crock pot dips is that they are so easy to make! Very little preparation and the crock pot does all the work!
Brown the breakfast pork sausage over medium heat.
Combine the sour cream, cream cheese, green chile, artichokes and sausage in the pot. Turn on high heat and cook for 30-45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add 1 cup of the cheese mixture and stir and continue cooking until bubbly and serve.
I always add the sausage last, so it heats up the cheese. This is my little tip to cook faster. I also think this dip is too hot, so I let it cook until bubbly. You will find the cheese mixture in the cheese section of the store. The grocery store will also have it in a “fine” piece, which incorporates into the dip better than the larger piece, which will become very stringy. Both are good, but fine cheese (like parmesan) is best.
The cheese mixture really adds flavor to this dip so you can add as much as you like. We start with one cup and go from there.
SERVE THIS WITH
We like this with tortilla scoops or frito scoops! Both are perfect chips! If you’re having a gathering and plan to serve some appetizers, these are all great:
Boiled peanuts in a pot
Mexican sausage balls
Ham and Swiss Sliders
❓ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Yes you can, you just want to heat the cheese and add the sausage and other ingredients, however it can stick so don’t go away. It’s much easier in the pot.
No, we like the juice, it’s a great addition to the dip.
STORAGE AND REHEATING
We often just store it in the crock pot and put it back on low when it’s time to reheat it. You can always reheat it in the microwave.
